Petri Latex Series

The Petri Latex series symbolises my obsession with creating reactions and marks that capture energy in a moment by combining both an artistic and scientific approach. The work is borne out of an obsessiveness with detail, alchemy and the potential of the material.

These newer works investigate the use of colour to change the resulting work while maintaining a repetitive process, ie. all the dishes are created using the same process but the colour changes to create gradation

Obscurus I

2020. Presented in Lightbox and shown as part of the Surface Details Project at Banks Mill Studios and the Lalley Gallery at Erewash Museum.

This set is characterised by a rich contrast in details from sharp to blended within the layers of the latex.

Collaboration

While in India during 2016 I was fortunate to meet Aakshat Sinha, a New Delhi based artist and curator during a workshop I ran, organised by TAEP. The resulting work 'Reflection' combined the processes of both artists and bought a new dimension to what they both aimed to achieve. It has been shown in New Delhi and Jaipur, India.

 

Petri Latex - Initial Experimentation

My work in 2015 focussed on honing the different techniques I've developed, these were created in larger dishes to incorporate form more strongly and to more clearly understand how the material and the dynamic of the liquids. 48 dishes were selected to form the basis of my investigation into the use of light to transform the dishes and my first lightboxes
